Last nite I was watching Joel Osteen on Larry King Live on CNN and I was struck by the fact that so many people, for various reasons, hate the man – both ‘christians’ and the secular media. But millions of people love him and his ministry.
Jesus said something at a peak in his ministry… after the Transfiguration…after he heals a demon-possessed boy…Luke 9 43-44 – While everyone was marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Listen to me and remember what I say. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies.”
Wow – Jesus was telling the disciples "people are shouting my praise right now, do you here all of them??" but then He says "Listen to ME…they will turn on Me / us"
Why am I so swayed by what people think of me? Why does praise and criticism have such a huge impact on us? Simply put – Jesus was tied into a thinking pattern that HIS FATHER gave Him – THE CROSS.
